Best Food Finds in Negros Occidental
Negros Occidental isn’t just home to historical and grandiose mansions; it is also haven to many food lovers. Whether you have a sweet tooth or adventurous appetite, there’s always something for any foodie here in Negros.
Here are some of the best food finds in Negros Occidental that you shouldn’t miss:
Located in Bacolod City, Calea is perhaps one of the most famous food establishments in the City of Smiles. And who wouldn’t recommend this? It offers a wide variety of cakes, pies, pasta, and drinks at affordable prices. They also offer huge servings of their cakes. In fact, a single slice is enough to give you a sugar high.
Prices of cakes in Calea range between PHP 80-PHP100+.
We managed to finish 1 1/2 servings of Calea’s cakes after having lunch in the Chicken House 😀

Chicken House’s Chicken Inasal
One of the foods that I make sure to get a taste of before leaving Bacolod is their chicken inasal. Besides, it’s what they are famous for, right?
There are two places in Negros Occidental where you can check out for a taste of authentic chicken inasal. One is the Manokan Country and the other one is Chicken House. We opt for the latter because it’s the first thing that I remembered when we got there.
Chicken meals in the Chicken House range between PHP 80-100+ without the rice.

El Ideal’s La Paz Batchoy
During my second day in Negros Occidental, I went to Silay City with the hope of discovering more museums and historical mansions. However, due to the unpredictable weather, I ended up in El Ideal.
Considered as one of the oldest establishments in the city, El Ideal offers a wide range of delicacies and short-order meals. Because it was raining hard when I got there, I tried their La Paz Batchoy. A serving for one costs PHP 60. It was the perfect meal for the gloomy weather that day.
El Ideal is an interesting restaurant. It has vintage chairs and tables which reminds you of restaurant setting back in the 60’s.
